Bonjour,
Top World Tsunami Hotspots Detailed
Jan. 11, 2005 — As Asia assesses the damage from the earthquake-spawned tsunamis that devastated many of its shores on Dec. 26, scientists turn their attention to other places threatened by geologic events that could generate huge waves.
Take a look at the primary hotspots for possible tsunami action:
CAPE VERDE
Flank instability has been also found in the Fogo volcano in the Cape Verde Islands, according to Simon Day.
As with the Canary Island volcano, a chunk of the island would slide into the sea during the eruption, triggering a huge tsunami which would surge across the entire Atlantic in a matter of hours, engulfing the whole U.S. East Coast.
